Coregistration of SAR Data: do results depend on software version?

Added by Peter Friedl almost 10 years ago

Hi everybody,

There is something weird I observed with coregistration, I`d like to share with you: I was using a GAMMA version from 2013 and coregistration of my data worked pretty well. Now I am testing the newest version of GAMMA and suddenly the coregistration results (azimuth standard deviation/ range standard deviation and/or accepted offset estimations) are significantly worse, although I didn’t change any settings (window sizes, SNR threshold,…). I figured out that the coregistration quality differs with the version of the offset_pwr algorithm I used. Did anybody of you observe the same issue? Does anybody know the reason behind?

Hi Peter,

we got similar problems with the intensity tracking algorithm. The tracking on the same image pair, with the same parameters led to 2 different results. With the new gamma version we had nearly no tracking results. We contacted GAMMA but did not get an answer so far. You should also contact them! That`s a serious problem in the new gamma version.

Hi Thorsten,

a very pragmatic, but of course preliminary solution of this issue is to replace the new offset_pwr algorithm with the old one in /usr/local/GAMMA_SOFTWARE-20141211/ISP/bin/. If you can`t find the old algorithm I can send it to you or anybody else who`s interested. Just write me an Email(). Nonetheless this is a problem which has to be fixed by GAMMA soon. I will also contact them and tell you their answer if there is any…
